We are looking for a Production Shift Manager to lead a Production team to ensure that the Digital Surfacing, Tint, Hard Coating, Anti-Reflection, Final Control & Edging departments meet their KPIs whilst ensuring that standard operating procedures and company HS&E policies are adhered to.
Key ResponsibilitiesYou will work to ensure people and resources are applied in an efficient and effective manner to meet delivery requirements while achieving health and safety, quality and legal standards by:
- Ensuring full adherence to 6S practices at all times
- Ensuring all records (including training records, HR management systems, SOP training, Risk assessments etc.) are up to date and completed appropriately
- Ensuring that the escalation procedure for service related concerns is followed, and carry out incident, accident and non-conformity investigations and associated reporting and action closure.
- Delivering achievement of productivity throughput against stated capacity targets and making sure the team are aware of day to day targets and responsibilities
- Undertaking continuous training and development
- Performing root cause analysis and resolving problems, including by identifying business improvement opportunities within the organisation
- Building strong working relationships with internal stakeholders for the deployment of excellent service.
- Effectively manage your team, by actioning daily management queries and support requests, monitoring T&A and performance outputs, promoting high standards, and developing a culture of continuous learning.
These are the capabilities a candidate must already have to be successful in the role:
- Proven experience leading and managing a fast-paced production or operations team (minimum 2-3 years).
- Proven ability to motivate, coach and develop a team to hit KPIs, and record progress in all areas.
- Ability to work well under pressure to manage daily operations and meet productivity, quality and safety requirements.
- Strong communication skills (verbal & written) for engaging teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to manage conflict, maintain discipline and build a high-performance team culture.
- Solid understanding of Health & Safety and Environmental responsibilities.
- Competence in conducting incident/accident investigations, root-cause analysis and corrective actions
- Experience supporting or leading continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and optimise resource allocation.
- Solid experience using order-processing software and Microsoft Office.
These would strengthen a candidate's profile but are not essential on day one:
- Familiarity with 6S / lean manufacturing methodology beyond basic compliance.
- Experience specific to optical manufacturing
- Strong background in managing cultural or operational change initiatives.
- Experience designing training roadmaps or development plans for operational teams.
