Logistics Shift Manager

Your Role

Lead the Logistics team to ensure the department meets its KPIs while maintaining adherence to SOPs and HS&E policies. Coordinate with external suppliers to manage service KPIs and with the Supply Chain team to control stock levels and oversee implementation of new products.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure full adherence to 5S practices at all times.
• Maintain accurate and complete records.
• Follow the escalation procedure for service‑related concerns.
• Achieve productivity throughput against capacity targets.
• Keep the team informed of daily targets and responsibilities.
• Conduct incident, accident and non‑conformity investigations and report findings.
• Monitor and maintain safety equipment, ensuring compliance with PPE requirements.
• Provide continuous training and development.
• Perform root‑cause analysis and resolve problems.
• Identify business improvement opportunities.
• Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks.
• Track departmental objectives and act when needed.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations, Company Handbook, Quality, Environmental standards and other Company policies.
• Build strong relationships with 3rd‑party service providers.
• Plan and execute the implementation of new stock ranges and removal of obsolete stock in line with the Supply Chain team.
• Plan and carry out stock cycle counts according to the annual schedule.
• Manage delivery teams for Birmingham, Milton Keynes and Leicester routes.

People Management

• Address daily management queries and support the team to achieve operational success.
• Monitor time, attendance and punctuality, liaising with HR as appropriate.
• Provide support and expertise to the team, responding to operator queries.
• Promote high standards through personal example and roll them out across the team.
• Communicate departmental KPIs from the strategic annual plan.
• Develop and lead a motivated team delivering efficient order processing, warehouse and distribution services.
• Arrange and evaluate training for new and existing staff, maintaining training plans and records.

Relationship Management

• Work positively with support functions to define processes, procedures and controls.
• Manage resource allocation to meet departmental objectives.
• Maintain effective communication with other departments.
• Provide feedback to the Management team, recommending and implementing continuous improvement activities.

Portrait of a Perfect Candidate

• Strong problem‑solving skills.
• Experience with order processing software and Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn new software.
• Experience in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
• Ability to organise, prioritise and deliver while making decisions under pressure.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, confident in interacting with diverse audiences.
• Solid understanding of H&S to ensure safety of operations and visitors.
• Experience in managing change to support a continuous improvement ethos.
