Location: North London / Anglia area.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide service that meets customer requirements and expectations, and increase profitable business for the Instruments Department among existing and new customers.
  • Maintain a continual assessment of the market to gain comprehensive awareness of customer and competitor activity, ensuring opportunities and threats are identified and acted on.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date records to allow accurate monthly reporting for inclusion in the Instruments Manager’s monthly report.
  • Provide breakdown and service cover within own territory or others if required.
  • Provide next‑day service when necessary to ensure customers receive prompt attention while keeping downtime to a minimum.
  • Provide installation and training assistance when required to ensure new equipment is installed promptly and efficiently, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Visit customers who may have had ongoing problems, accurately assess the situation, and give feedback to the Instruments Manager for a decision on any further action.

Requirements

  • GCSE‑level standard (or equivalent) Maths and English.
  • Full driving licence that permits driving in the UK.
  • Relevant industry and/or equipment experience.
  • Field‑based optical experience.
  • Ability to work alone and within a small team.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to make decisions and act upon problems quickly.
  • Excellent fault‑finding/diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of IT, networking and connectivity.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent customer‑facing skills.

Desirable

  • Extensive knowledge of company products and systems.
