School Crossing Officer – St Francis\’ Primary

This role involves supporting schools by ensuring the safety of pedestrians crossing the road to and from the school and surrounding locations. The post requires punctuality, reliability and a friendly, approachable manner when engaging with the public. Uniform, equipment, and training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- To have regard for the needs of people with disabilities, especially mobility impaired people wishing to use the crossing point.
- Maintain regular contact with the schools attended by children using the crossing.
- Regularly assess the risks associated with operating at the crossing site in order to identify any problems. Report problems and defects to supervisor.
- Assist in the preparation of reports on accidents and failure to stop incidents and other incidents occurring at the crossing site.
- Ensure that all uniform and equipment provided is maintained in good condition and replacements requested when needed.
- Give clear signals to drivers when stopping traffic and ensuring that the traffic remains at rest until the road at the crossing point is clear of pedestrians.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Punctual and reliable individual who is approachable and enjoys engaging with the public.
- Availability to work mornings and afternoons as described (approximately 08:00–09:00 and 14:45–15:45), 7.5 hours per week, during school term 39 weeks per year.
- Uniform, equipment, and training will be provided.
