Role Overview
We are seeking a driven and analytical Finance Apprentice to join our central team.
In this role, you will gain hands‑on, real‑world experience while working directly towards achieving a prestigious Level 6 Finance Apprenticeship.
- Core Responsibilities
- Ledger management – manage the purchase ledger, raise sales invoices, and resolve supplier and customer queries.
- Banking and systems – process bank payments via Civica Financials, send out remittances, and securely bank cash and cheques.
- Financial reporting – assist with monthly and year‑end reporting, including bank reconciliations, credit card processing, and VAT returns.
- Data analysis – use MS Excel functions and pivot tables to analyse financial reports against key business KPIs and provide clear commentary.
- Operational and audit support – process staff purchases and credit card orders in line with School Policy, and help prepare for internal and external audits.
- Strategic engagement – build connections with financial institutions and review the role of finance within the school curriculum.
- Entry Requirements
- A minimum of five GCSEs, including English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above.
- No existing qualification at the same or higher level in a similar subject.
- Enhanced DBS disclosure (mandatory).
- A genuine passion for numeracy and a desire to achieve professional qualifications.
- Advanced IT skills, particularly confident use of MS Excel.
- Impeccable attention to detail and accuracy in cross‑checking data.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate professionally with parents, pupils, and staff.
- Flexible attitude toward working hours to accommodate seasonal business needs.
