We are looking for an Assistant Centre Manager to join us at our idyllic Nature Discovery Centre at Thorndon, in Brentwood. Thorndon Nature Discovery Centre is situated in Thorndon Country Park, which offers a variety of habitats including ancient woodland, parkland, ponds, a marsh and meadow. The park is home to ancient trees such as a Giant Oak and Hornbeam pollards, and once supported a deer park. Parts of it were heathland and are now restored through grazing by goats and sheep.
As the Assistant Centre Manager, the post holder will work closely with the Site Manager to deliver day‑to‑day operations, including administrative duties, retail and food & beverage. The role requires supervising staff and volunteers and interacting with guests to ensure an engaging visitor experience.
Essential experience: front‑facing retail and/or hospitality.
The ideal candidate is self‑motivated, possesses a ‘can‑do’ attitude and is willing to support team members in both front and back of house during busy periods.
The role is permanent, working 30 hours per week on a rota basis between Monday and Sunday, including some weekends and occasional evenings.
