Job Summary
We are looking for an Assistant Centre Manager to join us at our idyllic Nature Discovery Centre in the ancient Belfairs woodland in Leigh-on-Sea.
The role deputises the Site Manager in delivering day‑to‑day operations, managing staff and volunteers, engaging with visitors to ensure a positive visitor experience and promoting donations and membership for Essex Wildlife Trust.
You will supervise Centre Assistants and Visitor Centre Volunteers.
Responsibilities
- Deliver day‑to‑day operations of the centre.
- Manage staff and volunteers, including supervising Centre Assistants and Visitor Centre Volunteers.
- Engage with visitors in retail and food & beverage areas, ensuring excellent customer service.
- Use the till, prepare and serve hot and cold refreshments, clear tables, and restock retail stock.
- Promote donations and membership for Essex Wildlife Trust.
- Work 15 hours per week on a rota basis, including regular weekends and bank holidays.
Qualifications
- Friendly and engaging personality with a strong customer‑service orientation.
- Ability to use a till and handle cash transactions.
- Experience preparing and serving refreshments.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and bank holidays.
Benefits & Compensation
- Permanent role with a starting salary of £10,097.22 per annum (FTE £25,243.05).
- Annual leave entitlement starting at 26 days per annum, increasing to 29 days plus Bank Holidays.
