JoinEssex Police as a police officer and you\’ll receive a starting salary of£32,907 (including £3,000 South East allowance) Annual incremental salary increase up to £51,231 within seven years along with a number of other fantastic benefits.

To join our Police Constable Entry Programme (PCEP) you will need to meet these eligibility criteria:
- be over 18 (you can apply at 17 and start work when you turn 18) – there is no upper age limit
- be a British citizen, an EC/EEA national or a Commonwealth citizen or foreign national with no restrictions on your stay in the United Kingdom. You will need to have lived in the UK continuously for the past 3 years (unless a serving with UK armed forces)
- be in good health, including fitness and eyesight
- have no criminal record, although some offences may be considered which will be reviewedwhen you apply
- obtained a level 3 qualification or able to demonstrate relevant experience or training that can be considered equivalent to a level 3 qualification
You will also be eligible if you meet one of these criteria:
- you are an Essex Police member ofstaff, a PCSO or special constable who have passed their probationary period
- you have a minimum of 3 years’ service with the armed forces and have achieved an exemplary reference on discharge
