An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to undertake the role of PNCB Support Officer within the 24/7 team of the PNC Bureau under the Force Control Incident Room (FCR) command on a permanent basis. The PNCB Support Officer role requires the successful candidate to maintain and update the Police National Computer (PNC) on behalf of Kent Police. Acting as a central point to receive, review and update all PNC related data on behalf of individual officers, police staff, police departments, and external stakeholders and servicing the operational requirement of the force. Ensuring that timely and accurate reports are added to PNC whilst complying with all national and local standards. Reject and amend inaccuracies in an effective and timely manner, ensuring that the Force is protected from complaint, reputational damage and litigation.

The role will offer flexibility in terms of place of work, including the potential to work from home for those who would like to. In the event that home working is agreed for the successful candidate, there will be a requirement to regularly attend a contractual workplace on average one or two days a week, as agreed with the line manager. The designated contractual workplace for this role is located at FCR, Coldharbour, Aylesford, Kent. The PNC Bureau is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. This role requires the candidate to work a shift pattern comprised of early, late and night shifts to ensure that we remain open. (The shift pattern is available on request).

This opportunity would suit a conscientious individual with meticulous attention to detail who is able to multi-task and remain calm under pressure. You will be able to drop what you are doing to assist with time-critical urgent requests, ensuring you go back to your previous task when possible. You will be naturally inquisitive, and in line with policies, seek to interrogate local and national databases to provide well-rounded advice when appropriate. You will possess good communication skills as well as the ability to handle extremely sensitive information with discretion and in compliance with relevant security policies and system operating procedures.

You will be educated to GCSE level or equivalent and be able to evidence the following essential skills in your application:

  • Good administrative skills, accuracy, and attention to detail as these are vital for successful performance of the role. Therefore effective keyboard skills are essential along with a good standard of grammar and spelling.
  • Competent with information technology including familiar with the range of standard Microsoft packages especially Outlook and Teams.
  • A high level of computer literacy so that once trained, you will be able to effectively interrogate several policing applications and communicate your findings.
  • Excellent verbal and written customer service skills, as you will need to confidently deal with a variety of enquiries.
  • Able to work closely and collaboratively within a small team, sharing and prioritising workstreams fairly and professionally with minimal supervision.

In addition it would be helpful if you can evidence:

  • Knowledge of a police environment and policy
  • Experience of policing applications such as PNC and Athena
  • Previous experience of maintaining record systems/databases
  • Experience of working shifts including nights

Kent Police offer incremental increases within this salary band, therefore the salary for this position will rise to a maximum of ÂŁ29,424.00.
