An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Administrative Assistant to join the Admin Team within the Criminal Justice Unit (CJU), based at North Kent Police Station. The Criminal Justice Unit oversees all functions relating to the review and processing of crime files, delivering a wide range of case administration responsibilities that support the criminal justice process.
The Administrative Assistant is a key role within this busy unit, providing essential administrative support to ensure the department operates efficiently and that cases progress effectively through the criminal justice system. The role involves a varied workload with competing priorities and deadlines, therefore you will need to demonstrate a strong ability to take ownership of your work, manage your own workload, and maintain excellent organisational skills.
You will be responsible for managing case file material entering the department, ensuring it is registered and processed in line with force policy and relevant procedures. You will play an integral role in accurately recording and maintaining data across force databases, systems, and spreadsheets. Additional responsibilities include managing departmental email inboxes, handling incoming and outgoing post, and assessing correspondence to determine the most appropriate course of action. The role will also require liaison with a range of partner agencies, including HM Courts & Tribunals Service and the Crown Prosecution Service, as well as internal departments.

It would be advantageous if applicants can demonstrate an understanding of MOPI (management of police information) and GDPR. As an Administrative Assistant within the CJU, you will play a vital role in supporting the criminal justice process.
