This is an exciting opportunity to join the Legal Services Department in Kent Police. The successful candidate will advise and represent the Chief Constable of Kent and other members of Kent Police on all aspects of law as it affects the Force. You will manage a personal caseload and provide an efficient and effective legal service to the Force as a whole, which assists in and limits liability and protects the Force’s reputation. The job description attached to this role provides further information regarding the main responsibilities.
The successful candidate will be qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive with a current practicing certificate. Ideally you will have previous experience of working in a legal practice, in a Legal Services Department within a Local Government or in a policing environment. Experience of working within a policing environment and knowledge of police policy, processes and procedures is desirable. It is also desirable to have a good working knowledge of employment law and Employment Tribunal processes.
You will have highly developed written and verbal communication skills, the ability to grasp and apply case law jurisprudence, and ideally, be able to build a legal argument from the consideration and application of first principles of law. Effective IT skills and experience of using Microsoft Office software is desirable.
Your own transport and a valid driving license are essential to this role.

Kent Policeoffer incremental increases within this salary band, therefore the salary for this position will rise to a maximum of£58,881.00.
