Overview
As a Special you’ll support regular officers, undertake patrols, support calls for assistance from the public and investigate reports of crime. Volunteering as a Special is a great way to give back to your local community, build new relationships and develop new skills.
Commitment
This role is voluntary and we require our Special Constables to offer a minimum of 16 hours per month. However, please note that you can choose when you work those hours and can volunteer more if you’d like.

- Commonwealth citizens or foreign nationals (who are not British citizens or European Economic Area (EEA) state members) who have leave to enter or remain in the United Kingdom for an indefinite period that is free from restrictions.
All applicants (except those who have been serving abroad with the British Armed Forces) must have lived in the UK continuously for the past three years.
