An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to undertake the role of Intelligence Assistant within the Kent Central Analytical Team.

This position is a full-time permanent position. Flexible working applications will be considered (minimum 3 days per week), and full-time hours are flexible between core hours of 07:00 and 18:00 Monday to Friday.

This position within the Central Analytical Team meets the increasing demand placed on the force through external processes and valuable intelligence profiles received from National Crime Agency, Op Opal, the Home Office and the Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU).

The main purpose of this position is to:

  • support the management of Organised Crime Group (OCG), Serious Organised Crime (SOC) and Vulnerability investigation assessments through MoRiLE (management of risk in law enforcement) and recording the disruption activity carried out by officers, Kent and partners,
  • receive and review intelligence and profiles that come into the team from external organisations and provide summary documents to the relevant team leaders and Senior Leadership Team,
  • undertake scanning of media and current affairs issues to ensure that the team have a collective understanding of emerging threats and trends in crime that could affect the victims of Kent

You will work closely with the Analysts, Team Leaders and Senior Analysts in ensuring that the force is equipped with the knowledge and understanding of wider criminal activity and emerging ways that criminals commit crime. Your ability to communicate and network with the analyst teams is important so that you can understand what is relevant and important for them to be aware of.

To be considered for the role, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Good level of Maths and English (preferably C/4 or above in GCSE)
  • Your ability to write concise reports
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Proficient use of IT including Microsoft products
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to network with colleagues.

It would also be desirable if you have an understanding of the use of intelligence and keep yourself up to date with media issues and current affairs. Experience in the use of Athena would also be beneficial although training can be provided.

There is an opportunity for you to undertake the Intelligence Professionalisation Programme which is a national programme led by the College of Policing. All training will be provided.

You will be required be able to travel to the Team Zone and Open Zones on a regular basis to work alongside analysts, you’ll also be required to travel to other police stations across Kent for training and meeting attendance as required, therefore a full driving licence would be an advantage.

The role will offer flexibility in terms of place of work, including the potential to work from home for those who would like to. In the event that home working is agreed for the successful candidate, there will be a requirement to regularly attend a designated Team Zone location as agreed with the line manager. The designated Team Zone for this role is located at Sittingbourne Police Station.

Kent Police offer incremental increases within this salary band, therefore the salary for this position will rise to a maximum ofÂŁ28,239.00.
