An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Property Assistant based at Folkestone Police Station. The role involves receiving, logging and storing all seized property, updating movements on the Police computer system, and coordinating with officers and staff. The assistant will review items for retention, disposal or auction, liaise with the Property Team Leader and ensure storage is kept to a minimum.
Responsibilities
- Log, store and manage seized property, updating the Police computer system with all movements.
- Arrange transfer or disposal of items in accordance with policy.
- Coordinate with officers, staff and the Property Team Leader regarding items suitable for auction or other disposal methods.
- Plan and organise tasks effectively, prioritise duties, and maintain accurate records.
- Perform manual handling with safe practices and basic health & safety knowledge.
- Evaluate and mitigate risks where necessary.
Qualifications
- Good all‑round education to at least GCSE A‑C or equivalent in English and Maths.
- At least basic health & safety and manual handling knowledge.
- Competent IT skills and familiarity with Microsoft packages (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Ability to use specialised software with training.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills providing customer service to the public and agencies.
- Strong organisational and prioritising skills.
- A full and clean UK driving licence is essential.
- Previous experience with managing Police Information (MOPI) and knowledge of Police environment and policy is advantageous.
- UK resident with continuous stay of three years required.
