An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to undertake the role of Frontier Targeting Team Officer (FTTO) as part of the National Counter Terrorism Border Policing Services. If successful, you will be joining a unique team of highly motivated individuals; therefore, applicants must possess the ability to work well as part of a team.

You will be involved in National Security targeting to identify individuals or groups who may need to be examined under the provisions of the Terrorism Act 2000. This is a specialist post hosted within Kent Police, in which you will have the opportunity to work with partner agencies, providing research and targeting to inform frontline activity. This post is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience of multi-agency partnership working within a national intelligence environment.

You must have developed analytical and decision-making skills combined with an ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision, often prioritising workloads effectively to ensure swift decisions. Effective written and verbal communication skills are also essential for this role, as you will be expected to explain your decision-making rationale.

Ideally, the candidate will possess a thorough working knowledge of police or similar computer systems, and the management of secure databases. Good keyboard skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office products, and the ability to rapidly familiarise yourself with other computerised databases including internet search engines are also essential skills required for this role along with the ability to work to deadlines and demanding timescales.

A good standard of education to GCSE or equivalent level or relevant work experience is required. A good knowledge of disclosure issues relating to CPIA and the legislation surrounding the management and use of intelligence, including Human Rights Legislation, RIPA, the Data Protection Act, and Terrorism Act legislation is desirable. Previous work experience within the field of intelligence is desirable but not essential for this role.

Candidates must be prepared to undertake continuous professional development, including working towards IPP certification (Intelligence Professionalisation Programme) within two years. Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore the successful applicant will undertake and be required to hold a minimum of SC vetting (Security Clearance) and to be willing to undergo and maintain vetting level DV (Developed Vetting).

You must be a British National and have resided in the UK for the past ten years. Exemptions apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government) and studying abroad. Please note that although the working location is fixed (operating from Folkestone, Kent), this role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result, you may be required to travel for business purposes. Therefore, the successful candidate will require a full UK driving licence.
