About the Role

Location: Kent / Chelmsford

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Pattern: Mon‑Fri

Part/Full Time: Full Time

Starting Salary: £25,242.00 (pro‑rata for part‑time vacancies)

Maximum Salary: £29,424.00

The role is situated within the Talent Management space of Human Resources and supports learning & development across Essex Police and Kent Police. It involves delivering development opportunities, supporting promotion and succession planning, and engaging with resourcing and operational teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of a range of development opportunities, including police officer promotion boards, senior staff selection and appointment, senior staff succession planning, and College of Policing initiatives.
  • Engage with learning & development, HR, operational teams, finance, positive action and senior leadership teams to ensure high‑quality people‑focused approaches meet organisational needs.
  • Support the wider resourcing functions, learning the recruiting and resourcing landscape of both forces.
  • Plan, lead and deliver multiple workstreams to tight deadlines.
  • Prioritise competing workloads, identify risks and take action to mitigate or appropriately escalate risk.
  • Build collaborative relationships and provide support to colleagues across both forces.
  • Maintain engagement with the senior leadership team to align development activities with organisational strategy.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging at all levels, including executive colleagues.
  • Experience planning, leading, and delivering multiple concurrent projects with tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to collate and share data to improve workforce planning and outcomes.
  • Ability to prioritise competing workloads and identify risks to take action in mitigating risk or escalating where appropriate.
  • Knowledge of the National Police Promotion Framework and/or HR/L&D practices is desirable.
