This is an exciting role for a talented internal communications professional. Essex Police is a growing, complex organisation with more than 6,000 police officers, staff and volunteers spread across the county. The Internal Communications Delivery Officer plays a key role helping colleagues feel informed and valued.

The successful candidate will have excellent writing skills across a range of media, pay attention to detail and accuracy, and ideally have experience of working on different content management systems. You will assist in the design and development of internal communication material and processes, including the internal intranet, providing initial advice and information to officers and staff in order to raise awareness across the workforce of the Essex Police vision, values and priorities.

The role requires a keen eye for detail and a focus on evaluating the success of projects and communications materials. The role will involve writing, sub-editing, creating a range of content to support force-wide internal publicity campaigns on a number of topics including neighbourhood policing, specialist services and diversity and equality. Experience of supporting event planning is also useful.

  • Working towards qualifications in journalism, public relations or marketing or similar subject or an equivalent standard qualification.
  • This will be combined with around 2-3 years’ experience relevant to public relations, marketing or internal communications.
  • Accuracy in every aspect of work including excellent writing, content creation and editorial skills for a range of media and presentation skills.
  • Evidence of the ability to design, develop and support media initiatives influencing for a positive outcome.

Office based Agile Worker: Office based agile working with designated team area at our Headquarters in Chelmsford. Works predominantly (60% or more) in one office space. The rest of the time works at home or at other police site locations. The role will offer flexibility in terms of place of work, including some home working.
