This is an ideal post for a creative and enthusiastic Principal Psychologist who enjoys working with individuals and teams in fast‑paced environments. Mental Health Liaison work is at the interface between physical and mental health services, supporting individuals in physical health acute environments with their mental health needs. As a psychologist in this role, the work brings together clinical health psychology approaches and traditional mental health approaches to intervention. Liaison with teams across transition is a core part of the role and so having the ability to build strong relationships is vital.
Main duties:
- Offering and leading on development of the psychological approaches and interventions for mental health liaison to permit the most effective outcomes for people referred to the service.
- Leading a small team of psychology professionals working into a mental health liaison team and supporting their development.
- Building relationships with partners across mental health and physical health environments to support effective transitions.
- Co‑development of training packages for the mental health liaison team and wider hospital.
- Working with Principal Psychologists in Liaison across the Essex footprint to support equity of service.
- Working as part of the wider Clinical Health Psychology leadership team to support development and awareness of Clinical Health Psychology in the Trust and partner agencies.
