An exciting 12 months fixed term/secondment opportunity has arisen in EPUT. We are in the position to recruit a Matron – Inpatients Mental Health covering adult acute wards and a PICU ward, Chelmsford.

The successful candidate will be a competent practitioner with a proven record of leadership skills as a Band 7 nurse and able to take responsibility for the overseeing of assessments of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for clients with mental health needs for the adult inpatient service.

Main duties of the job

You Will Be Able To Demonstrate

  • Excellent risk assessment skills
  • Communicate effectively, both written and verbally
  • Demonstrate compassion, understanding, commitment, enthusiasm and above all be highly motivated
  • The candidate will have a high level knowledge of CQC requirements and have a philosophy of the 6 C’s of care
  • Active participation will be required in the training and education of learners allocated to the Mental Health Service, and to encourage integration between the Ward Team and Crisis Services
  • The successful candidate will deliver the highest quality care for patients with acute mental health issues; with a positive attitude and a commitment to maintain EPUT’s excellent customer care
  • We are looking for people who can bring commitment and fresh ideas, and determination to take forward our service in new and innovative ways; in return we offer training and development of staff, support through regular supervision and appraisal to assist you in setting realistic objectives.

Our EPUT NHS staff bank is an entity managed by the trust that hires clinical and non-clinical healthcare professionals to take on shifts at our trust hospitals and community settings. Here at EPUT we maintain our own bank of specialist staff to ensure that we are able offer safe and effective care at all times.

All our permanent staff are automatically enrolled onto the staff bank however this does not mean you have to work any additional shifts, but the option is there for you if you wish.

If you are joining our Trust in a fixed term role, please indicate on your New Starter Paperwork that you wish to join our staff bank.

As a newly appointed employee, you are responsible for incurring the cost of your initial DBS check relevant to your post; the amount will be deducted from your first salary with the Trust.
