Job Overview
Rainbow Mother and Baby unit is a 6‑beded specialist commissioned service offering assessment, support and treatment to women suffering from acute mental health illness during their third trimester of pregnancy up to the baby being 12 months old.
Admissions are accepted primarily from the east of England. The team works very closely with other key professions to ensure the best outcomes for both mother and baby, therefore strong communication skills are essential.
Perinatal work is an exciting area focusing not only on the individual but the extended family during what can be the most amazing and terrifying time in their lives.
Main duties
- Actively encouraging and improving the health, physical health and wellbeing of people who use in‑patient services at Rainbow Mother and Baby Unit.
- Work autonomously, formulating and implementing exercise and wellbeing programmes for patients through admission.
- Work in partnership with other healthcare providers to deliver holistic care that addresses both mental and physical health needs and care plan desired goals.
- Collaborate with the MDT to promote recovery pathways including support from the Occupational Therapy team in devising individual and group timetables to support physical and mental wellbeing.
- Coordinate the delivery of person‑centred fitness plans within 1:1 sessions and group activities while assessing differing abilities and fitness levels.
