An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to undertake the role of West Public Protection Unit (PPU) Administrator. The successful candidate will be based in the west of the county at Grays Police Station.
Responsibilities
- Carrying out police checks on persons involved with child protection matters within Essex, supporting Officers carrying out investigations, and informing Social Services departments in their undertaking of welfare checks (Section 47 of the Children’s Act 1989) for child protection purposes both urgent, for immediate significant risk, and scheduled for child protection conference purposes.
- Maintaining spreadsheets and diaries, operating a bring‑forward system in relation to child protection conferences to ensure adequate time for review and attendance where necessary.
- Managing databases such as Athena and the Police National Database (PND), extracting data and ensuring data accuracy.
- Monitoring the Child Abuse Investigation Team (CAIT) West inbox for emails requiring action and populating spreadsheets and diaries with the information.
- Attending child protection conferences as required.
Qualifications
Essential:
- A confident and professional person to deal with a wide range of safeguarding situations.
- A high level of integrity due to confidential and sensitive nature of data.
- Ability to work to strict deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, and ability to work as part of a team.
- Comprehensive IT skills including Microsoft products.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of police systems would be an advantage.
