An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Geographical Facilities Assistant based at the bustling Basildon Police Station. The role involves providing general facilities duties, including minor repairs to property and furniture, maintenance and equipment inspections across Essex Police Stations in the South LPA and other sites as required. The position requires strong communication and customer‑service skills, liaising with staff, officers of all ranks and external service providers. A force vehicle will be available for travel to other Essex police sites as directed by the line manager. The logistics aspects involve lifting and moving bulky or heavy items with appropriate aids. Administrative duties include using bespoke computer programs and standard office applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. The core service operates between 08:00 and 17:00 Monday to Friday; flexible start and finish times may be required as directed by local management. The role is primarily office‑based but may involve travel to other police sites.

What we are looking for:

  • Experience in practical maintenance and general repairs
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety and manual handling techniques in the workplace

  • Full UK driving licence

Eligibility:

Applicants must be residents of the UK, have lived continuously for the last three years, and be free from restrictions with indefinite leave to remain. Those serving abroad in the British Armed Forces are exempt from this residency requirement.
