IT Services are committed to safeguarding our digital assets and ensuring the highest level of security for Essex Police and Kent Police. We are seeking our first Cyber Security Manager to join our team and lead our cybersecurity initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive cybersecurity strategies and policies.
- Oversee and manage our NMC Alerting and cyber incident response.
- Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability testing.
- Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure security best practices.
- Lead and mentor colleagues within our technical teams on cybersecurity solutions.
- Stay updated with the latest cybersecurity trends and threats.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Monitor, review and work to mitigate where possible the Force risk for Cyber & Data Security & Cyber Attack Prevention
- Oversee activity against the myriad of actions within our SyAp (Security Assessment for Policing) and IT Healthcheck plans.
The post holder will be part of the IT Departmental Management Team and must be able to represent the department on the out-of-hours on-call rota for critical incidents and stakeholder management.
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience: in technical architecture with a strong understanding of various technologies and platforms.
- Experience and qualifications: education to degree level or equivalent, together with an appropriate professional security qualifications and possess an extensive knowledge of policing and business operating environments.
- Security Design: detail your experience in cyber security design, implementation and defence within an enterprise environment.
- Passion for technology: detail your broad business knowledge and extensive understanding of current and emerging information and communication technologies and products, services, methods and techniques for solutions delivery.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, especially to Chief Officers and key stakeholders.

Kent Police offer incremental increases within this salary band, therefore the salary for this position will rise to a maximum of ÂŁ62,763.00.
