We’re looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Public Rights of Way (PROW) Assistant to join our dedicated team. In this role, you’ll play a key part in maintaining a safe, sustainable, and accessible PROW network for all users by supporting the effective management of our assets.
Your main focus will be the delivery of our bridge inspection programme. Working independently and with initiative, you’ll collaborate closely with PROW Officers and key stakeholders to coordinate and manage inspection schedules and associated works.
This is a field-based role covering a large geographical area, so the ability to travel across the county is essential.
The Role
• Responsible for assessing the condition of the Public Rights of Way network, liaising, where necessary, with landowners or occupiers to ensure they carry out their legal responsibilities.
• Responsible for raising defects using data capture devices and assisting PROW Officers in creating job packs in line with CDM Regs to enable the delivery teams to plan and prioritise work accordingly.
• Assist PROW Officers to specify programmes of work, ensuring compliance with specification, safety and legislation.
• To assist PROW Officers with implementation of agreed community action initiatives and the promotion of the rights of way network.
• Contribute to the preparation of reports, to promote and provide information to members, user groups, volunteers and other interested bodies on Public Rights of Way issues.
• Knowledge and application of construction materials, the maintenance, design and implementation of Public Rights of Way schemes, highways or construction in the environment.
• Able to demonstrate high level map reading ability and practical application of navigating and interpreting a variety of maps.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and online meeting platforms eg Zoom or MS Teams).
• An understanding of environmental or conservation regulations.
• Full, clean UK Driving licence as attending site visits will be required.
