The predicted salary is between 975 - 1146 ÂŁ per month.

Reporting to the Ganger/Supervisor, you will play a key role in delivering a high‑quality highway maintenance service that makes a real difference to our communities. You will support the upkeep of the highway network, ensuring all maintenance activities are completed to a high standard and in line with the strategies and policies of the County Council and Essex Highways. A strong focus on customer service is essential. You will work as part of a team that takes pride in maintaining excellent standards, using clear communication and positive interpersonal skills to deal with enquiries in a helpful and professional manner. This will ensure customers feel informed, respected, and confident in the services and standards the Council provides.

The Role

  • Pothole repair and carriageway defect reinstatements.
  • Carriageway and footway patching and construction.
  • Drainage works, including laying pipes, resetting ironwork and gully/access chamber construction.
  • Installation of road signs and other small civil works.

About You

  • A current, valid driving licence is essential, with LGV Class 2 entitlement highly desirable.
  • New Roads and Streetworks or NHSS 12 training and qualifications would be highly beneficial.
  • Experience in the use of handheld technology (PDAs, Smartphones, etc) would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Local knowledge of the county would be beneficial.
