We are looking for an Internal Communications Manager to develop and oversee the delivery of staff communications and engagement within Essex County Council’s highways service. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leaders to develop and implement an Internal Communications strategy that will engage staff through a variety of channels and communications approaches.

Role

  • Create a regular staff newsletter with well‑written and engaging content
  • Collaborate with the senior leadership team and managers to identify new opportunities for staff engagement and communications within the service
  • Use Viva Engage to highlight and celebrate the work of the Essex Highways
  • Provide design capabilities for the service
  • Design and share regular communications for county councillors
  • Provide corporate communications support for Ringway Jacobs to promote the contract’s achievements in Essex

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent by experience
  • Evidence of continuing professional development with good knowledge in relevant professional area
  • Experience of internal communications, including evidence of working and influencing at a senior level
  • Experience of mentoring to provide advice and guidance, ideally at every level of an organisation, from junior to director
  • Generalist understanding of digital and non‑digital marketing channels
  • Full driving licence
  • Excellent written, oral and presentational communication skills, interpersonal and listening skills
