Role Overview
The main purpose of the role is to assist, generally as part of a team, in delivering highway maintenance and construction works.
Responsibilities
- Work as part of the highway maintenance operational team.
- Manage and direct a small highway maintenance team.
- Carry out and take responsibility for skilled tasks including carriageway, footway, drainage maintenance, soft estate maintenance works (grass cutting, strimming etc.) and minor civil works (setting out, paving, kerb installation, signage etc.).
- Ensure that all works are completed safely.
- Receive daily briefings and understand risks and control measures required for the task to communicate to other members of the team.
- Complete daily record sheets and associated documents; including site specific risk assessments assessing the safe systems of work.
Qualifications
- Highway maintenance experience.
- A current, valid driving licence is essential, with LGV class 2 desirable.
- Able to carry out safety, quality and environmental audits and risk assessments.
- Able to take responsibility for traffic management, 12 A/B Traffic Management.
- A good understanding of health and safety and its impact on the workplace.
- Demonstrate awareness of environmental aspects and impacts and waste management.
- Relevant New Roads and Streetworks or NHSS 12 training and qualifications desirable.
