Reporting to the Design Team Leader and working under the supervision of Engineers and Senior Engineers, you will provide technical support in the development and delivery of highway, traffic management and civil engineering schemes across Cheshire East. You will assist with the production of drawings, design information and project documentation, supporting projects from initial feasibility through to construction. The role offers excellent opportunities to develop technical skills and progress within a professional highways design environment.
The Role
- Producing and updating engineering drawings using AutoCAD and associated software.
- Assisting with the preparation of highway, traffic management and civil engineering designs.
- Supporting site surveys, inspections and data collection activities.
- Preparing quantities, schedules and technical information for project delivery.
- Assisting with the preparation of reports, drawings and design documentation.
- Maintaining accurate project records and document control systems.
- Supporting the delivery of projects to agreed timescales and quality standards.
- Assisting Engineers and Senior Engineers with technical assessments and design development.
- Liaising with internal teams, contractors and other stakeholders as required.
- Ensuring all work complies with relevant standards, specifications and procedures.
Qualifications
- HNC in Civil Engineering or working towards a similar qualification (desirable)
- Experience in a highways, civil engineering or technical design environment
- Knowledge of highway design principles and construction practices (desirable)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D (essential)
- Experience of using Microsoft Office applications (essential)
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail (essential)
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team (essential)
- Good written and verbal communication skills (essential)
- Commitment to professional development and continuous learning (essential)
