Ringway Jacobs is looking for an enthusiastic and talented Engineer to join our Development Management team, working on the Essex Highways Integrated Services contract in partnership with Essex County Council.

The key purpose of the role is to apply your skills to lead and undertake Technical Assurance of developer-designed schemes, providing a first-class service delivering the planned works and ensuring that the challenges of delivering the vision and priorities of the County Council/Essex Highways are met.

The Role

  • Ensure design and construction of Developer’s highway infrastructure works (both new highway and improvements to the existing highway) are acceptable to the Highway Authority for adoption as public highway and maintainable at the public expense.
  • For all highway works associated with new developments.
  • Assist the Highway Authority with consultations with the Local Planning Authority for proposed developments.
  • Agree detailed designs and ensure planning permission conditions/obligations are met.
  • Attend/Chair Meetings.
  • Answer site queries / design queries in a timely manner.
  • Extensive stakeholder liaison (both internal and external).
  • Have obtained a Degree, HNC, or equivalent high-level qualification, or have experience in highways.
  • Have a knowledge of, and experience in, managing the design and implementation of highway aspects of major development proposals including statutory processes involved with these activities.
  • Can demonstrable knowledge of national guidance, legislation and regulations relating to design and implementation of highway schemes. In particular, expertise in the Highway Act 1980 and CDM 2015 is required.
  • Have a knowledge and application of Health and Safety legislation.
  • Are Conversant with Microsoft applications – Word, Excel and Power Point.
