Our friendly and inclusive Property team is looking for a Facilities Manager to manage and oversee all aspects of facilities operations for the estate at our Service Headquarters in Kelvedon. This includes ensuring compliance with statutory tasks and delivering high-quality hard and soft services, including building maintenance, safety, cleaning, catering, and environmental sustainability.
What You Will Be Working On
- Be responsible for the Facilities Management of the Service Headquarters and suggest improvements for enhanced performance and/or reduced costs.
- Oversee maintenance and repair of building fabric, mechanical and electrical systems.
- Work with the Asset and Compliance manager to ensure PPM schedules are appropriate and followed.
- Manage contractors for specialist services and ensure work meets agreed standards.
- Supervise cleaning contracts, waste management, grounds maintenance, and manage catering services on site.
- Participate in all management and working groups, providing advice on design and development of areas and facilities.
- Plan, manage, and develop programmes through surveys of all FM functions within the Essex County Fire & Rescue portfolio.
- Advise on appropriate services and procure all furniture and fittings for the Authority.
- Develop and maintain an assets register and inspections for the purchase, service, and replacement of fixtures and fittings.
- Monitor, advise, and prepare space standards and assessments across the portfolio.
- Undertake regular inspections of the portfolio to prepare maintenance, decoration, and improvement programmes.
- Assist in the supervision and control of organised events regarding legislative compliance.
- Produce and maintain procedures/policies for all Facilities functions within the HQ.
- Keep up to date with new systems and products, advising changes on policy and standards.
- Ensure all work complies with building service regulations, approved practices, statutory requirements, and health and safety legislation.
- Act as the 'Building Manager' for the Authority's Service Headquarters, ensuring statutory compliance.
- Be the duty holder/responsible person for the building fire alarm systems.
- Ensure that all services provided excel in performance standards and meet stakeholder expectations.
- Contribute to a safe work environment ensuring compliance with Health and Safety, Risk Management, Business Continuity, and Safeguarding policy and procedure.
- Protect all personal information in adherence with the Data Protection Act 2018.
What Are We Looking For?
We are looking for someone with experience in Facilities Management/Property roles, knowledge of Building regulations, fire safety standards, and Health & Safety. An excellent communicator who can work independently alongside operational teams and departments to deliver successful projects.
