Responsibilities
- Provide mandatory clinical/professional supervision for Family Workers and other team staff, integrating research‑ and evidence‑based practice.
- Conduct quality assurance work to maintain high‑quality support for young people and their families.
- Collaborate with staff and partners to implement risk management in line with Effective Support and Guidance thresholds, ensuring adherence to the SET child protection procedures.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of legislation, policy changes, research findings and practice developments to serve as an expert adviser to the team.
- Deliver formal, systemic supervision focused on staff wellbeing and the families they serve.
- Promote active engagement of young people and their families in decision‑making around intervention plans.
- Work with the Team Manager to standardise practice, meet performance targets, and deliver high‑quality services to children and families.
- Represent Family Solutions at county and local meetings to facilitate multi‑agency collaboration.
Qualifications
- Formal social worker qualification (Diploma, degree, MSc, CQSW, CSS or equivalent) with current registration with Social Work England.
- Demonstrated experience in social work and a comprehensive, up‑to‑date understanding of relevant legislation and guidance.
- Evidence of continuing professional development aligned to relevant competency frameworks and skills statements.
- Strong operational knowledge of risk management, including risks to children and others.
- Commitment to quality assurance, including case auditing and incorporating feedback from children and families.
- Ability to develop staff practice to improve outcomes for children and families.
- Capacity to deliver high‑quality training and development to a multi‑agency staff group.
- Demonstrated commitment to involving children and families in decision‑making and quality assurance.
- Commitment to developing community resources and engaging volunteers where appropriate.
- Must‑Have Requirements
- Mobile across a wide operational area, including travel within and beyond Essex, and ability to transport service users and belongings in emergencies.
- Valid driving licence and access to a car or alternative means to meet mobility requirements.
- Willingness to register with the DBS update service if DBS checks are required for the role.
