Please note this opportunity is being offered on a part time basis working 18.5 hours per week with a pro rata salary of up to £17,334 per annum.

The successful candidate will be required to deliver training throughout the South Essex area. Adult Community Learning (ACL) is Essex County Council's provider of lifelong learning opportunities for residents, helping them gain skills to progress in work, learning and life.

The Vocational Trainer delivers engaging, high-quality teaching, training and assessment across a range of vocational areas and qualification levels, supporting learners to achieve recognised standards and positive progression outcomes. The postholder will plan, deliver and assess learning in line with awarding body and quality assurance requirements, maintaining high expectations and inclusive approaches for all learners. They will draw upon sector-specific expertise to bring learning to life, using digital tools, practical demonstrations and real workplace examples.

Accountabilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, inclusive and engaging teaching, learning and assessment within a designated vocational area, both in person and online, to ensure learners achieve planned outcomes.
  • Develop schemes of work, lesson plans and learning materials that reflect sector practice, employer expectations and awarding body criteria to provide relevant and compliant learning experiences.
  • Prepare learners for assessment, ensuring timely completion and achievement of qualifications and professional standards.
  • Design and adapt delivery to meet individual learning needs and embed English, maths, digital and employability skills.
