Job Purpose: As a Street Scene Enforcement and Education Officer, you will investigate environmental crime, educate residents on waste and recycling services, and take action against perpetrators. Your role will involve dealing with issues such as untaxed and abandoned vehicles, fly-tipping, littering, and commercial waste offences

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate environmental offences including fly-tipping, abandoned vehicles, and dog fouling.
  • Interview victims, perpetrators, and witnesses of environmental offences.
  • Issue fixed penalty notices for offences.
  • Prepare prosecution files and provide evidence in court.
  • Liaise with agencies like the Police, DVLA, and Environment Agency.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • Provide high standards of customer care and maintain accurate records.

Requirements:

  • Experience dealing with environmental offences within a local authority or similar environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage conflict and work within a team.
  • Knowledge of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and other relevant legislation.
  • Full manual driving license.
  • Successful completion of a Police Community Safety Accredited training course whilst within role.
  • Satisfactory enhanced DBS and Police vetting certificate.
