Required to work two days per week, undertaking routine inspections such as Safety Culture inspections and ensuring Council‑owned land and facilities are safe and high‑quality.
Accountabilities:
- Responsible for day‑to‑day operation of Council‑owned parks, open spaces, recreational facilities, cemeteries and car parks.
- Open and close facilities as required and perform general horticultural duties and minor repairs.
- Conduct programmed inspection and equipment audits, address defects per departmental procedures, and assist in preparation of budget bids for maintenance and development.
- Respond to emergency call‑outs inside and outside normal hours, initiating necessary actions to protect facilities and ensure health and safety of users.
- Perform regular patrols of parks, open spaces, woodlands, car parks, etc. to ensure health and safety, reduce anti‑social behaviour, and take enforcement action when needed.
- Liaise with Essex Police and other emergency services when appropriate.
Experience:
- Able to work independently.
- Pro‑active mindset.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Experience in operating and maintaining open spaces and associated facilities, including programmed inspections and equipment audits.
- Experience working with community groups.
- Knowledge of and experience in horticultural activities.
- Knowledge of and experience in enforcing relevant legislation.
