About the role

Are you good at engaging hard to reach young people? Are you searching for an organisation which believes strongly in the holistic development of young people? Are you keen to develop your therapeutic capabilities supporting students with complex needs? Do you have a car and are you willing to drive to work with students?

Lapwing continues to grow and strengthen its peripatetic Education Team across Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex and is looking for versatile skills coaches, working out of home, to deliver best practice coaching and mentoring to young people with special educational needs. This role may involve the delivery of therapeutic, life skills and/or employability-based programmes in both a 1:1 and very small group capacity in local venues.

Candidate profile

The successful candidates will have the potential to be outstanding coaches and mentors with knowledge and experience of working with young people with special educational needs. They will have excellent interpersonal skills and creative approaches.

Organisation context

Lapwing is a specialist education provider and charity currently expanding in Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk, working with young people (aged 4-25 years old) facing exclusion from education, employment and the community through social, emotional, behavioural or learning difficulties and disabilities. Lapwing delivers a broad range of highly personalised education programmes and projects that are designed to meet the needs of, and help realise the aspirations of, each student.

Role details

This is ideally a full-time position, but part time appointments (minimum 0.8 FTE) are possible for the right candidate(s). The post is peripatetic covering education programmes predominantly delivered within 30 miles of home, depending on where candidates live. Mileage is reimbursed and there are opportunities for professional development and career progression as the charity grows.
