School Crossing Patrol Officer – St John's Green Primary School, ColchesterPermanent, Part Time£13.00 per hour Location: ColchesterWorking Style: Operational field-based worker STOP! Come and support your local community by joining Essex County Council's School Crossing Patrol Team as a School Crossing Patrol Officer at St John's Green Primary School, Colchester. Support schools once in the morning and once in the afternoon, ensuring the safety of all pedestrians crossing the road to and from school and its surrounding locations.We are looking for a punctual and reliable individual, who is approachable and enjoys engaging with the public.This position is for 7.5 hours per week approximately, with a holiday pay element included.
You will need to be available to work during the 39 weeks of the academic year, for 45 minutes between 08:00 – 09:00 in the morning and 45 minutes between 14:45 – 15:45 in the afternoon approximately, depending on individual site requirements. Uniform, equipment, and training will be provided.Responsibilities:To have regard for the needs of people with disabilities, especially mobility impaired people wishing to use the crossing point.Maintain regular contact with the schools attended by children using the crossing.Regularly assess the risks associated with operating at the crossing site in order to identify any problems. Report problems and defects to supervisor.Assist in the preparation of reports on accidents and failure to stop incidents and other incidents occurring at the crossing site.Ensure that all uniform and equipment provided is maintained in good condition and replacements requested when needed.Give clear signals to drivers when stopping traffic and ensuring that the traffic remains at rest until the road at the crossing point is clear of pedestrians.To read more about us please visit: EducationWhy Essex?As one of the largest and most dynamic UK local authorities, Essex offers a stimulating public service environment.
