School Crossing Patrol – Cathedral Primary, Victoria Road South
Join Essex County Council as a School Crossing Patrol Officer for the School Crossing Patrol team at Cathedral Primary – Victoria Road South. This permanent, term‑time, part‑time position is community‑based, with approximately 6 hours 15 minutes of work per week during the 39‑week academic year.
Location: Chelmsford
Working Style: Community‑based worker
Pay: £13.00 per hour
Hours: 35 minutes between 08:25‑09:00 in the morning and 40 minutes between 15:00‑15:40 in the afternoon (approximate). Holiday pay element included.
About the Role
Support schools once in the morning and once in the afternoon, ensuring the safety of all pedestrians crossing the road to and from school and its surrounding locations.
Responsibilities
- Consider the needs of people with disabilities, especially mobility‑impaired individuals.
- Maintain regular contact with schools whose students use the crossing.
- Assess and report any risks or defects at the crossing site to a supervisor.
- Prepare reports on accidents, failures to stop incidents and other incidents at the crossing.
- Maintain and request replacements for uniform and equipment.
- Give clear stopping signals to drivers, ensuring traffic remains stopped until the crossing is clear.
