  • Practice Supervisor – Family Solutions Braintree and Witham (Permanent, Full Time)
  • Working Style: Fixed‑base worker

Role focuses on ensuring best practice through professional supervision, specialist advice and consultation for social work staff, and maintaining high quality services to children and families.

  • Accountabilities
  • Provide effective clinical/professional supervision for Family Workers and multidisciplinary team.
  • Undertake quality assurance to deliver high quality support to young people and families.
  • Work with staff and partners to ensure effective risk management in line with thresholds and procedures.
  • Maintain current knowledge of legislation, policy changes and research developments to advise the team.
  • Provide formal, systemic supervision focusing on staff wellbeing and family contexts.
  • Promote active engagement of young people and families in decision‑making around intervention plans.
  • Collaborate with the Team Manager to improve consistent practice and high performance standards.
  • Represent Family Solutions at relevant county and local meetings to ensure effective multi‑agency working.
  • Achieve annually defined targets and objectives within the performance management framework.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Recognised social work qualification (Diploma, degree, Masters, CQSW, CSS or equivalent) and current registration with Social Work England.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development aligned to relevant competency frameworks and experience of social work.
  • Operational understanding of effective risk management for children and others.
  • Commitment to quality assurance, including case audit and seeking feedback from children and families.
  • Ability to develop staff practice to improve outcomes for children and families.
  • Ability to deliver high quality training and development sessions to a multi‑agency staff group.
  • Demonstrable commitment to involving children and families in decision‑making and shaping quality assurance.
  • Committed to developing community resources and working with volunteers where relevant.
