Maldon District Council is working in partnership with Essex Shared Services to support the recruitment of the role of Development Management Team Leader, a full‑time position offering hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days in the office per week. Office attendance will be in line with the needs of the Council and the Development Management team, including evening Committees or other meetings where necessary.
The role is within the Council's Development Management and Planning Enforcement team, which is part of the Place, Planning & Growth directorate. This is an exciting time to join the planning team at Maldon District Council. We have an increase in major planning applications, we wish to take a more proactive approach to pre‑application advice and planning performance agreements, and at the same time we are looking to review our processes and procedures to ensure we provide a high‑quality planning service to our customers.
As an experienced and inspirational Development Management Team Leader, you will lead a high‑performing planning team and help deliver sustainable growth across the district. You will oversee a diverse range of planning work, provide professional leadership and mentoring to officers, and will work closely with applicants, Councillors, stakeholders and local communities to ensure development proposals align with planning policy and support sustainable growth.
