About the role

We are looking for a First Aid Trainer to deliver 1‑ and 3‑day courses across ACL centres and community venues in Mid Essex on a sessional basis with a pro‑rated salary of £18.38 per hour. The successful candidate will deliver training within a geographical area of Mid Essex. Hours will vary each month, with some evenings and weekends required.

Accountabilities

  • Deliver high‑quality, inclusive and engaging teaching, learning and assessment within a designated vocational area to ensure learners achieve planned outcomes.
  • Develop schemes of work, lesson plans and learning materials that reflect sector practice, employer expectations and awarding body criteria to provide relevant and compliant learning experiences.
  • Prepare learners for assessment, ensuring timely completion and achievement of qualifications and professional standards.
  • Ensure compliance with quality assurance, safeguarding and Prevent, actively promote equality of opportunity and wellbeing across all aspects of service delivery, ensuring all staff and learners feel respected, supported and able to thrive in a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of learner attendance, progress and achievement using ACL‑approved systems to support monitoring and reporting requirements.

The experience you will bring

  • Educated to RQF Level 4 and holding a relevant teaching qualification; an IQA qualification is desirable.
  • Occupationally competent in First Aid and holding a relevant first‑aid qualification.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development within the vocational area.
  • Ideally qualified in QualSafe, or equivalent approved.
  • Proven experience in teaching, training or assessing adults or apprentices, preferably in FE or work‑based learning.
  • Strong planning, organisational and communication skills with the ability to adapt delivery for diverse learner needs.
  • Competent in the use of e‑learning platforms, digital tools and online delivery methods.
  • Commitment to inclusive education, safeguarding and continuous improvement in teaching practice.

Additional requirements

The role requires you to be mobile throughout the operational area; therefore, the post holder must have a driving licence and access to a vehicle, or meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means. If a DBS check is required, you will be asked to register with the DBS update service.
