The Divisional Based Intervention (D-BIT) Service provides solution-focused interventions for families with children and young people aged 8-17, helping them stay together safely. This role works mainly in homes and communities with families, providing intensive, time-limited support and liaising with other agencies. The team works across the four quadrants of the Children and Families Service.
Accountabilities
- Provide solution-focused interventions with whole families, working collaboratively with D-BIT colleagues.
- Maintain close links with other agencies and services to ensure consistent and non-duplicative support.
- Write reports for relevant meetings and contribute to the overall family intervention plan.
- Attend Child in Need and Child Protection meetings, aiding in planning and outcome assessment.
- Maintain high professional standards to build confidence in the social work service.
- Collaborate with D-BIT colleagues, frontline social workers, managers and other professionals to improve outcomes.
- Participate in professional supervision as per policy and D-BIT processes.
The Experience You Will Bring
- NVQ Level 3 – Caring for Children and Young People or equivalent.
- Knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and 2004.
- Familiarity with the Essex Safeguarding Children Board procedures.
- Experience or interest in the Solution Focused approach.
- Experience in supportive relationships with children, young people and families.
- Experience in planning activities for children, young people and parents.
- Knowledge of child development.
- Understanding of factors impacting families such as poverty, disability and bereavement.
- First Aid certificate (desirable).
Additional Requirements
- Driving licence and access to a vehicle, or other means to meet mobility requirements.
- Role may require DBS check; responsibility for DBS update service.
- Occasional work on Saturdays when required for families.
