This is a part‑time position (22.2 hours per week) with flexibility in working pattern. Pro‑rata salary range: £26,971 – £31,730 per annum.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialist advice and professional expertise for health professionals and social workers, demonstrating expert practice in complex situations.
- Support colleagues to mitigate high levels of risk, make independent decisions, and coordinate across services (health, social care, education) to ensure timely discharges and avoid institutionalised care.
- Facilitate preventive and integrated approaches for autistic individuals and/or those with learning disabilities displaying challenging behaviours, including those with mental health conditions.
- Coordinate community services to allow people to remain in the community and manage discharge planning from inpatient services.
- Chair Care and Treatment Reviews for the cohort.
- Travel within Essex and beyond as required; possess a driving licence and access to a vehicle or alternative means.
Qualifications
- Degree level education (Diploma or Degree in Social Work or Nursing) or equivalent.
- Evidence of continuing professional development and subject‑matter expertise; membership of a relevant health or social care professional body.
- Significant experience working with people with learning disabilities and/or autism, understanding health and social care systems, and relevant legal/statutory frameworks.
- Up‑to‑date understanding of all relevant legislation, including the Mental Health Act.
- Experience chairing multi‑agency meetings with clients, families, carers and professionals, making decisions on complex issues.
- Ability to challenge and negotiate with senior stakeholders to ensure services align with national policy for the population.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, building and maintaining relationships with professionals, service users, families and providers to achieve positive outcomes.
- Experience researching best practice and implementing national policy locally in the learning disability and autism sectors.
Travel
The role requires travel around Essex and beyond. A valid driving licence and access to a car, or other suitable transportation, is essential.
