The Opportunity

The Employability & Skills Adviser will provide impartial advice and guidance to young people, helping them progress into post-16 opportunities, employment, education, training, and vocational pathways.
Accountabilities
- Assist young people in overcoming barriers to employment through self-referral, providing careers guidance, CV writing, job applications, interview techniques, group sessions, and presentations.
- Manage caseloads and maintain accurate client records following DfE guidance.
- Engage with under 18 benefit claimants for DWP registration and child benefit registrations with HMRC.
- Broaden opportunities by liaising with providers and young people, promoting the 8 Gatsby benchmarks.
- Negotiate and influence education and training provision to meet economic and young people\’s needs, and share information on training opportunities.
- Support the implementation of the RPA strategy, advocating for young people\’s decision-making in learning and employment.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across education, social care, SEND, Youth Offending, Housing, and partner agencies to support young people\’s training and employment.
- Develop and deliver large-scale recruitment events, engaging with parents, carers, and professionals.
- Meet specific targets and objectives as outlined in the performance management framework.
The Experience You Will Bring
- Possess an IAG Qualification, Dip CG, QCG, or NVQ Level 4, preferably working towards Level 6 LDDS or equivalent.
- Demonstrate ongoing professional development and expertise in relevant areas.
- Have advanced communication skills and a solution-focused approach to engage hard-to-reach young people, building their confidence and resilience.
- Proven success in progressing young people into education, training, and employment.
- Broad understanding of issues affecting young people, opportunities for learning, and services offered by partner organizations, with current labour market knowledge.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with stakeholders and negotiate with providers and agencies.
- Experience in analyzing and interpreting data sets.
Note: The role requires mobility across the operational area. Candidates must have a driving license and access to a vehicle or meet mobility needs through other means.
