About the Role
Support schools once in the morning and once in the afternoon, ensuring the safety of all pedestrians crossing the road to and from school. The role is for 7.5 hours per week, with a holiday pay element included. Availability is required during the 39 weeks of the academic year, 45 minutes between 08:00‑09:00 in the morning and 45 minutes between 14:45‑15:45 in the afternoon, depending on site requirements. Uniform, equipment and training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Take regard for the needs of people with disabilities, especially those with mobility impairment.
- Maintain regular contact with the schools used by children.
- Regularly assess the risks associated with operating at the crossing site, identify problems and report them to supervisor.
- Assist in preparing reports on accidents and failures to stop incidents and other incidents occurring at the crossing.
- Ensure all uniform and equipment are kept in good condition and requests replacements when needed.
- Give clear signals to drivers, stop traffic and ensure the road remains clear of pedestrians.
