About The Role
Castle Point Borough Council is seeking an Education & Engagement Officer to work within the Waste and Recycling Service. This role is integral in engaging residents, promoting recycling initiatives and driving service improvements.
Position Details
Permanent, Full Time (also an 18‑month fixed‑term contract). Salary £29,064 – £30,518 per annum. Location: Benfleet. Closing Date: 21/06/2026.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with residents and the community about waste and recycling.
- Ensure customer satisfaction within the waste and recycling service.
- Deliver waste projects and drive improvements to the service.
- Promote waste and recycling at schools, public areas and events.
- Use Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel and Power BI.
- Collaborate with Street Scene colleagues to provide targeted engagement on issues such as waste presentation or fly‑tipping.
- Engage with managing agents to discuss waste‑related matters at their properties.
- Work closely with the Waste Strategy, Promotions and Performance Officer.
Experience and Skills
Previous practical experience working in an engagement or front‑line role is essential. Waste‑industry related experience is desirable.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a valid full UK driving licence.
