Location: Harwich & Dovercourt.
Support schools once in the morning and once in the afternoon, ensuring safety of pedestrian crossing.
Availability: 45 minutes between 08:00–09:00 in the morning and 45 minutes between 14:45–15:45 in the afternoon, approximately, for the 39 weeks of the academic year.
Responsibilities
- Have regard for the needs of people with disabilities, especially mobility impaired people wishing to use the crossing point.
- Maintain regular contact with the schools attended by children using the crossing.
- Regularly assess the risks associated with operating at the crossing site to identify any problems. Report problems and defects to supervisor.
- Assist in the preparation of reports on accidents, failure to stop incidents and other incidents occurring at the crossing site.
- Ensure that all uniform and equipment provided is maintained in good condition and that replacements are requested when needed.
- Give clear signals to drivers when stopping traffic and ensure that traffic remains at rest until the road at the crossing point is clear of pedestrians.
