About the team: We’re an adult social care team that supports adults with physical and sensory impairments including Acquired Brain Injury, Multiple Sclerosis, Stroke, Huntington’s Disease, Sensory Loss, and Fibromyalgia.

We work collaboratively with a multi‑disciplinary team to safeguard and support vulnerable adults, promoting independence and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert guidance, model best practice, and mentor both newly qualified and experienced colleagues.
  • Manage a diverse and complex caseload, undertaking comprehensive assessments and creating person‑centred care plans.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory Care Act requirements, legislation and organisational standards.
  • Deliver expert social work practice in complex situations, upholding the highest standards of professional practice.
  • Collaborate and build strong relationships across the Council and with partner agencies to shape high‑quality solutions that promote independence.
  • Chair multi‑agency meetings, proactively representing an adult social care perspective.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
  • AMHP, BIA or Practice Educator qualified.
  • Proactive and passionate Social Worker with a proven record of working complex cases and supporting staff.
  • Experience mentoring newly‑qualified and experienced team members and providing guidance in complex situations.
  • Significant Adult Social Care experience with comprehensive understanding of current legislation, regulations and guidance.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and capability of practice in accordance with current professional standards.
  • In‑depth understanding of the financial implications of commissioned care packages.
  • Capability to make clear decisions, highlight and limit potential risks associated with intervention.
  • Experience chairing meetings involving clients, family members, carers and multi‑agency professionals.
  • Desire to develop and become part of the management team.

This role involves travelling around Essex, often to rural locations not well served by public transport.

A driving licence and car, or access to other means of transport, is essential.
