Fixed Term / Secondment (12 months, with scope to become permanent)

£36,364 to £42,781 per annum

Location: Chelmsford*

Working Style: Anywhere worker

*This is a hybrid-working role contractually based in Chelmsford. The role allows for some home-working with a requirement to attend the office 2-3 days per week, in line with business need.

Who are we?

The Essex Pension Fund is one of 87 pension funds which make up the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS). The LGPS is the largest defined benefit pension scheme in England and Wales with a fund value of over £340billion.

On its own, our Fund looks after 182,000 Scheme Members, over 800 Employers and is valued at over £13billion, placing us within the top 10 largest LGPS funds in the country.

Here are some of the things you would you be doing:

  • Play a leading role in supporting the management and governance of pension payroll across LGPS, Police and Fire Pension Schemes.
  • Authorise high-value pension payroll transactions and provide technical assurance on complex calculations.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for pension payroll systems, taxation and regulatory compliance.
  • Identify and implement improvements to payroll processes, controls and service performance.
  • Coach and support colleagues in pension payroll best practice, quality standards and legislative changes.
