Overview

In this role you support the stability and performance of the Council’s ICT systems, acting as a bridge between IT projects and day-to-day IT support. You monitor, diagnose and resolve issues, while ensuring projects transition smoothly into BAU with strong technical assurance. You will work with cross‑functional teams and suppliers to deliver reliable, compliant services and maintain clear technical documentation. This position offers hybrid working with one office day per week and a chance to contribute to service quality and continuous improvement in a local government setting.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor system performance, availability and health to identify issues and support timely resolution
  • Provide specialist technical support for incidents and problems, including escalation when needed
  • Support transition of IT projects, changes and upgrades into BAU with proper handover and documentation
  • Collaborate with IT support, project teams and suppliers to ensure secure, stable and supportable systems
  • Maintain technical records and monitoring information to support service management and continuity
  • Identify opportunities to improve performance, resilience and monitoring
  • Support compliance with ICT policies, security standards and data protection requirements
  • Engage with internal teams and external suppliers to support service delivery and issue resolution

Key requirements

  • Hands-on ICT service delivery experience in medium/large organisations
  • Experience with Azure cloud platforms and system monitoring
  • Understanding of ITSM practices, incident handling and change control
  • Knowledge of cyber security, resilience, backup and recovery
  • Ability to explain technical matters to non-technical colleagues
  • Strong communication, organisation and ability to manage competing priorities
  • Experience with documenting and maintaining technical records
