Adults Social Worker – Mid Essex (Various Teams)

Salary: £38,487 to £51,834 per annum

Location: Chelmsford & surrounding areas

About the Role

We are an adult social care service focused on helping citizens of Essex maintain or achieve independence and a full life. Social Workers work alongside individuals, families and carers, delivering Care Act 2014 compliant assessments, reviews, support planning and safeguarding. The role supports adults across a range of needs including mental health, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and safeguarding concerns.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake Care Act‑compliant assessments, reviews, and support planning.
  • Work with adults with a range of needs, including older people, physical disabilities, learning disabilities, mental health needs, and safeguarding concerns.
  • Apply strengths‑based and person‑centred approaches to promote independence and wellbeing.
  • Participate in safeguarding enquiries in line with Section 42 of the Care Act.
  • Work collaboratively with health colleagues, voluntary sector partners, and wider multi‑disciplinary teams.
  • Manage a varied caseload while maintaining professional standards and high‑quality practice.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Social Worker (post ASYE) with current Social Work England registration.
  • Sound understanding of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act, and safeguarding practice.
  • Strong assessment, risk management, and decision‑making skills.
  • Confident working autonomously while contributing positively to team culture.
  • Committed to reflective practice, continuous professional development.
  • Experience chairing meetings.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with partner agencies and the local community.
  • Driving licence and car, or ability to meet mobility requirements.
